Fam Irvoll SS26 lit up London Fashion Week with joyful maximalism
As part of London Fashion Week, Fam Irvoll presented her SS26 collection with Fashion Scout at Protein Studios, Shoreditch, on 20 September 2025. The catwalk celebrated the decade when individuality reigned—channelling the 1980s’ eclectic spirit through Irvoll’s signature playfulness, bold colour and irreverent storytelling.
The show framed the ’80s as a toolbox rather than a template. Athletic references, sharp tailoring and the attitude of early hip-hop were recut into looks designed to move, morph and delight. True to the brand’s philosophy, pieces embraced transformability: garments were conceived to be worn multiple ways, inviting self-expression while encouraging longer wear and less waste.
Prints carried the loudest conversation. Drawing on the graphic exuberance of the Memphis design movement, Irvoll introduced three original patterns where geometric motifs and optical illusions coursed across silhouettes. The effect felt nostalgic yet forward-looking—like memories of interiors, architecture and arcade culture spliced for a contemporary wardrobe. Textured embellishments and sculptural volumes amplified the sense of fun without losing craft.
The runway underlined Irvoll’s ongoing rejection of Scandinavian minimalism in favour of imaginative maximalism rooted in artisanal practice. Educated at ESMOD Oslo and Central Saint Martins, the Norwegian designer has long fused fine craftsmanship with pop-inflected narrative; her work has been embraced by high-profile performers from Lady Gaga to Beyoncé, Rihanna and Katy Perry. The London outing sharpened that point of view: colour as language, silhouette as punchline, and clothes as catalysts for joyful, personal style.
By the finale, Fam Irvoll SS26 read like a visual sugar rush—kaleidoscopic prints, witty construction and feel-good theatre—reminding London that fashion can be both clever and exuberant, and that sustainability can also mean designing garments to be loved and reworn.
