From Taipei to London: Taiwanese Creativity Took Centre Stage at London Fashion Week

As part of London Fashion Week, the one-day exhibition From Taipei to London: A Sensory Showcase of Taiwanese Creativity opened on 18 September 2025 at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Commissioned by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, the event brought together four designers—APUJAN, INFDARK, JENN LEE, and RAY CHU—in a unique multi-sensory presentation that merged fashion, food, and cultural storytelling.

Curated by Rain Wu and enhanced through an innovative collaboration with BAO London, the showcase transformed garments into narratives that guests could experience through sight, scent, taste, and touch. Each designer introduced a distinct vision: APUJAN’s mastery of knitwear and chiffon blurred fantasy and futurism, INFDARK reinterpreted Taiwanese motifs for contemporary wear, JENN LEE reflected a decade of evolution from gothic roots to romantic experimentation, and RAY CHU advanced gender-neutral sustainability with fabrics upcycled from tea leaf and fish-scale waste.

The event framed Taiwanese fashion as both environmentally conscious and emotionally resonant. Bespoke florals, scenography, and Taiwanese-inspired dishes expanded each brand’s story, while a media meet-and-greet contextualised the work within Taiwan’s broader creative culture.

Ambassador James T. S. Yao, representatives of the British Fashion Council, and international media were among those in attendance, praising the exhibition as a breakthrough beyond the traditional showroom model. Their response underlined Taiwan’s growing presence on the global stage and the strength of its creative industries in bridging heritage, innovation, and sustainability.
