Freya Rose Launches AW25 Collection The Amber Hour: A Sculptural Ode to Japanese Artistry
With The Amber Hour, multi-award-winning British designer Freya Rose introduces a striking Autumn/Winter 2025 collection that redefines the language of luxury footwear. Inspired by ancestral craftsmanship and the meditative discipline of Japanese art, the collection is a symphony of bold silhouettes, radiant colour, and hand-crafted detail.
Freya Rose’s AW25 vision unfolds in a dramatic palette: obsidian black, jewel-toned green, molten gold, and glowing blood orange. Each shoe is cut from the finest leathers and suedes, elevated on the brand’s iconic couture heels, hand-inlaid with luminous mother of pearl. This artisanal hallmark, entrusted to generational craftspeople in Indonesia, has long set the brand apart—an enduring fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary refinement.
The title The Amber Hour takes its cue from the Japanese word Yūyake (夕焼け)—“burning sky”—the moment the horizon ignites in crimson glow. References to Red Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai echo through the collection’s lines: sculptural, architectural, yet softened by a minimalist sensibility. The result is footwear that embodies both stillness and drama, each pair carrying the quiet authority of a setting sun.
Beyond its visual power, the collection is conceived as wearable art. Three new couture shoe designs are joined by a mother-of-pearl clutch, all conceived as heirloom pieces that transcend trend. Prices range between £775 and £995, reflecting the couture-level artistry and the brand’s dedication to slow, meaningful luxury.
At its heart, the collection affirms Freya Rose’s ethos: to honour ancestral artistry while creating designs for women who express strength, independence, and unapologetic elegance. By weaving Japanese symbolism into her London-based design language, Rose continues to craft pieces that are both timeless and daring—footwear that is less accessory than statement, less season than legacy.
