Global Fashion Collective brings seven designers to New York Fashion Week SS27

Global Fashion Collective opened its Spring/Summer 2027 New York Fashion Week programme on 11 September 2026 with seven international designers at The Glasshouse in Manhattan. The first day brought together fashion from Peru, the United States, Canada, Taiwan and South Korea across two runway presentations overlooking the New York skyline.

The programme moved between couture eveningwear, Caribbean-influenced resort dressing, Taiwanese craft, sustainable textiles and collections shaped by art, history and social themes. Show 1 featured Noe Bernacelli, Maison Hadascha and Richard Wei, while Show 2 presented Erika Chung, Carlton Jones, Claire Marie and BLTAM ENTRE.

Noe Bernacelli explored modern romance through couture

Peruvian designer Noe Bernacelli presented an SS27 collection built around sculptural femininity and eveningwear craftsmanship.

Soft blush and nude tones appeared through corsetry, lace, feathered textures, embellishment and fluid draping before the palette moved towards deep crimson. Sheer foundations exposed elements of the garments’ construction, while embroidery and dimensional detailing introduced movement.

The collection balanced romantic references with more structured silhouettes, using texture and proportion to give traditional eveningwear a contemporary direction.

Maison Hadascha brought Caribbean luxury to New York

Haitian-American designer Hadascha Volny, Founder and Creative Director of Maison Hadascha, presented a collection rooted in her Caribbean heritage.

The SS27 wardrobe moved across luxury resort ready-to-wear, swimwear, lounge pieces and knit couture. Fluid silhouettes met more controlled construction, creating a balance between ease and structure.

Rather than treating resort fashion as a single category, Maison Hadascha developed a wider warm-weather wardrobe centred on colour, movement and confident femininity.

Richard Wei presented ‘Fashion is Art’

Vancouver-based Canadian designer Richard Wei presented Fashion is Art, an eveningwear collection examining the relationship between clothing and artistic expression.

Sculptural gowns, luminous fabrics and fluid draping formed the main visual language. Detailed embellishment and precise tailoring added a couture quality, while contemporary silhouettes prevented the pieces from becoming overly traditional.

Wei also drew on the contrasts of Vancouver, where urban life exists alongside mountains and ocean. That relationship appeared through the balance between controlled structure and freedom of movement.

Erika Chung translated memories of Taiwan into couture

Taiwanese designer Pei-Yin Chung presented Taiwan Cha Mou Zai under her ERIKACHUNG label.

The collection began with childhood memories of local Taiwanese markets, including watching her mother place fresh vegetables into traditional woven bags. Chung translated these familiar objects and textures into contemporary fashion through weaving, lace and engineered silhouettes.

Traditional Chinese characters, Eastern knotting techniques and references to Taiwanese everyday culture, including bubble tea, appeared throughout the collection.

Material choices also included biodegradable Tencel and Greencell fibres developed into lace and organza. Chung combined these softer surfaces with her data-led pattern engineering to create precisely shaped silhouettes.

Carlton Jones found ‘Second Nature’ between city and coast

New York designer Carlton Jones presented Second Nature, continuing his exploration of resort dressing through the relationship between urban life and nature.

An unexpected discovery on the shores of Puerto Rico inspired Jones to reconsider camouflage. Instead of approaching it through military references, he looked at natural pattern, texture and concealment.

Lightweight mesh and breathable Tencel supported relaxed silhouettes designed to move between the city and the coast. Jones also drew on his Caribbean heritage, travels and more than two decades of experience as a stylist.

Claire Marie revisited Renaissance dress

Designer Claire Marie Francom presented A Modern Renaissance, drawing on Italian and English Renaissance dress through a contemporary lens.

Each of the collection’s eight gowns incorporated a lace-up corset. Velvet, brocade, satin, lace and silk appeared in red, purple, gold, green, black and white, creating a richly textured palette.

Francom has a particularly personal connection to craftsmanship. She began sewing with her mother at the age of nine and continues to make her designs by hand.

BLTAM ENTRE gave young designers a New York platform

South Korean collective BLTAM ENTRE made its New York Fashion Week debut following an earlier appearance at Vancouver Fashion Week FW26.

Founded by Korean designer Bomin Kim, the project presented work by Jane Shin, Eunwoo Ji, Jia Kim and Jiyoon Lee, four young designers aged between 10 and 12.

Each designer responded to a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal. Their themes included quality education, economic equality, health and healing, and peace and justice.

Korean natural silk, medical references, Eastern and Western visual influences and refined silhouettes became ways to explore social ideas through fashion.

Global Fashion Collective continued its international NYFW programme

The first day of GFC’s SS27 New York programme demonstrated the breadth of its international approach. Couture sat alongside resortwear, handcraft, Taiwanese cultural references and work by a new generation of Korean designers.

Hair for the showcase was supported by Goldwell US, with Odete Da Silva leading the hair team. Cristina Cuellar Store served as make-up sponsor, with Cristina Cuellar leading make-up. The Glasshouse hosted the presentations.

Global Fashion Collective operates runway showcases in New York, London, Milan, Paris and Tokyo, connecting international designers with audiences across major fashion capitals.
